The Museum Campus experience starts in our main building, the Guest Cottage, at 1050 Bathtub Row, Los Alamos, NM, next door to Fuller Lodge.

Guided Walking Tours

We offer guided walking tours of our historic district, covering all of Los Alamos history from the Ancestral Pueblo to modern day. Tours are led by local docents, many of whom have lived in Los Alamos for decades. You can expect tours to last 1.5-2 hours, with several spaces to pause and sit along the way.

Please call the History Museum at 505-709-7794 to place a reservation for a tour. Walk-ins are also welcome! Please arrive 30 minutes prior to the start of the tour to check in.

Tours cost $25 per person, which includes museum admission. 18 & under are free with a paying adult, Ask about our tour backpacks for anyone under 18!

OUR CAMPUS

Your admission includes access to several sites throughout our historic district. Enjoy exploring the wide array of Los Alamos history throughout historic Bathtub Row!

GUEST COTTAGE

Start your visit at our main museum site! Located right next to Fuller Lodge and with convenient parking, the Guest Cottage is the oldest occupied space in Los Alamos. Explore our Orientation Gallery, Ranch School Exhibit, and Manhattan Project exhibits throughout this space. You’ll also find a special rotating gallery featuring different, unique exhibits to gain greater insights into specific parts of Los Alamos history.

ROMERO CABIN

One of only three remaining area homestead cabins and the only one open to the public. Experience a bygone way of life and learn why homesteading on this plateau differed from anywhere else in the country. Open for walking tours and special programs.

PUEBLO SITE

Ancestors of modern Pueblo people built the Ancestral Pueblo site around 800 years ago. Today, you can see the original footprints of the rooms and kiva built from carefully hand-cut tuff, the volcanic rock that makes up the Pajarito Plateau.

HANS BETHE HOUSE

The Harold Agnew Cold War Gallery features exhibits highlighting 70+ years of Cold War history of the Los Alamos community and the laboratory. You will see scientist profiles, a Nobel Prize display, models of atomic weapons, information about Los Alamos as a community for civil defense, and a recreated living room and kitchen from the 1950s.

OPPENHEIMER HOUSE

Currently under renovation, the Oppenheimer House is scheduled to open April 22, 2028. This cottage was built in 1929 for May Connell, the art and music teacher for the Los Alamos Ranch School. The stone masonry walls, fireplace, as well as large windows may have been a few of the reasons that J. Robert Oppenheimer chose this house as his home during the Manhattan Project.

Museum Shop

Visit the Los Alamos History Museum Shop for a wide selection of Manhattan Project and World War II related books, as well as local outdoor guides, Southwestern cookbooks, and children’s books. We have hats, shirts, mugs, and other gift items.
